Get Witchy in Salem

Happy Halloween people! In honor of this spooktacular holiday I am going to throw things back to 1629 in Salem, MA.  WITCH(es), wizards, and all sorts of characters flooded the streets like a train station in a Harry Potter movieI am guessing, no one will ever really know this for sure, but it is sure fun to imagine. I went looking for the queen of spells with her bubbling cauldron and magical witches’ broom, but I didn’t exactly find her here…

Instead, I felt a overwhelming presence of past spirits. I am not trying to be all hippy dippy on you, but this place is like a time machine. After all, this was the epicenter of witchcraft hysteria where over 20 accused ‘witches’ were notoriously executed in public. Can you even imagine if that happened today? TMZ would have a heyday.

WITCH GUIDE

Speaking of Hollywood, fictional witchcraft is wrapped all over this place. They filmed parts of Hocus Pocus and Sabrina the Teenage Witch here. Sabrina’s cat (obviously black and anthropomorphic) was even named Salem. Yeah, I still watch that show. I am not afraid to admit it, clearly.

Isn’t Salem just the cutest? There is something about this place that is comforting yet chilling at the same time. I don’t know how else to describe it.

Happy TRICK or treating!!! Since its Halloween, I thought I would just say, WINTER is coming!!! The growing season is over and winter is upon us.  I love Game of Thrones, yes.

May you walk among the ghosts and ghouls tonight. Hehehe (in my evil witch voice).

You should be Bob Ross for Halloween

It’s official, I live under a glacier. I was just looking through the #Falloncostume feed on Instagram and I found this:

At first I thought it was Fortune Feimster from Chelsea Handler’s round table, but captioned beneath it said ‘Bob Ross.’ Who was this and how have I not heard of him? So, of course I hit up Google. Within seconds I was hooked. That voice and talent. Clearly, I’ve been missing out all these years. If you haven’t already, watch this. This guy is a LEGEND, and now I see why everyone wants to be him for Halloween.

I want to be him everyday. He was so chill. When I was reading his biography, I had one of those moments when the world stops spinning and suddenly things make sense.  He was raised in Florida, just like my mom, he passed away in New Smyrna Beach (the very same beach I went to as a little girl), and he uses good ole’ southern epithets also, just like my mom!

Let’s just say I love him and quite frankly, I want to thank the military for sending him to Alaska. Where obviously he was inspired by the landscape, or as he would put it, “the lay of the land.”

“There’s nothing wrong with talking to a tree.. it’s when they respond that you’re in trouble.”

Bob Ross you are my hero…. and obviously I am not the only one.

I wish I could have a big glass of iced tea and chat with him, but for now I think I’ll just spend the rest of my night binge watching old episodes of his PBS show.

Long story short, be Bob Ross for Halloween. If not… here are a few other cool costumes that might win the #Falloncostume contest.

Sharknado or Bob Ross? I think…. Bob Ross!!!!

Let’s get Crafty- Halloween style

I can’t believe Halloween is on Friday!! AKA I have absolutely nothing planned. No carved pumpkins, no witchy treats, and sadly, not even these candy corn inspired nails.

I love the other one… but there’s NO way I could pull that off. Helen Keller is more artistic than me….

So maybe I should stop being lame & get in the spirit! And you should too! (unless you’re cool and already on it)

Doesn’t this time of year make you crave Hocus Pocus and Harry Potter? Oh, and I just love pumpkins!
